I Have A 5 Kw Portable Generator. How Harmful Is It To Run Unbalanced 120 Volt Loads On Each Outlet?

I have heard it can destroy the generator to run say, a refrigerator from one outlet and a hair dryer in the other. Both loads are below the 20 amp max, but they are not equal loads.
